Curiosities of the Pizzinini family and the Dolomites
- The road to San Cassiano was only paved in the year 1968
- When telephone lines were installed in San Cassiano, Rosa Alpina's phone got the number 1
- The first language, still widely spoken by the whole community is "Ladin" an ancient language with Latin roots. This language has maintained itself due to the geographical boarders, that did not or did allow very few contacts to other cultures
- The signs with the names of each village of the area are in three languages, putting Ladin first, followed by Italian and German.
- Having had no electricity in the area, Grandfather Mariangel Pizzinini built his first power plant in 1927 using the water from the stream in San Cassiano. The same happened with drinking water pipes, this is why grandfather first found a water spring directly under the mountains around San Cassiano and installed the pipes to the hotel and village.
